Summer Blog Challenge: Final Week

July 28th, 2011

Hello friends!

This will be the last summer blog challenge post. In August I will need to get the blog ready for the upcoming school year. So here we go!

Post the titles of at least two books you hope to read. Perhaps you want to read them during the school year or get to one during the month of August before we go back to school.

Post the title of at least one book you’re hoping to recommend to someone. Do you already have someone in mind that you think should read it? Remember Internet safety: No first names, please. You could say “my cousin”, if it’s a classmate you could use their username, etc.

Enjoy the rest of the summer! If you know how to create your own posts, feel free to create one to talk about a book that you’ve read anytime over the next several weeks! Your usernames will not be deactivated, so you’re always welcome to come back and participate in posts during the upcoming school year! I’d love to hear from you!

Summer Blog Challenge: Week 8

July 21st, 2011

I think we’ll answer a few “how many” questions this week.

How many books have you finished this summer?

How many books have you abandoned this summer?

How many books are you reading right now?

*TIP: You could highlight the questions, click “Edit, Copy” up at the top of your screen, and move the cursor to the reply box and click “Edit, Paste” if you’d like to make it easier to separate your answers to the questions.

Summer Blog Challenge: Week 7

July 13th, 2011

We’ll keep it simple: What are you reading this week? Would you recommend it to others? Why or why not?

Summer Blog Challenge: Week 6

July 5th, 2011

Sorry friends, I’m late on this one! I hope you all had a great Independence Day! This week share your favorite place to read and why you like it. How often do you read there?

Summer Blog Challenge: Week 5

June 27th, 2011

Hello friends! Let’s talk about other types of text this week. Tell us about something you read this week that WASN’T a book. Maybe a newspaper article, a magazine, something on the Internet, an instruction manual…you get the idea. :) Hope you’re all having a fabulous summer!

Summer Blog Challenge: Week 4

June 19th, 2011

Hello again!

We’ll keep this one simple. Post the title of a book you’re really hoping to read this summer. You might also share why you’re hoping to read it.

Have a great week!

Summer Blog Challenge: Week 3

June 13th, 2011

A day late- sorry! :)

Here we go:

Choose a passage from that book that speaks to you. It might be a favorite quote, a section with really descriptive language, a funny conversation between two characters, a phrase that foreshadows something to come- whatever you’d like! Post the quote, the book you found it in, and explain why you chose it!

Happy reading!

Summer Blog Challenge: Week 2

June 5th, 2011

Hello, Friends! I hope you’ve had a great week. Two new tasks this week, one reading-related and one not:

1. Tune in to interesting words while you read. Post at least one interesting word you found, what book it came from, and why it’s interesting to you. If you’d like, you could also post the context (sentence) in which you found the word.

2. What is something you’re looking forward to doing this week? Maybe you’re going to the pool, taking a trip, or…..cleaning your room? ;)

Talk to you soon!

Summer Blog Challenge: Week 1

May 29th, 2011

Hello friends! I hope you’re enjoying your summer so far. Each week I’ll post a new challenge for those who want to participate. For this week click “Comment” and answer two questions:
1. What is one of your summer reading goals?
2. What book do you plan to read this week?

Happy reading!
